The Technical Committee is made up of industry specialists within the Road Marking industry.

One of their key activities is the development of the road trials, for Road Markings.

The trials are undertaken in a ‘live’ environment on the road itself rather than in a laboratory. This method has the advantage of making it possible to determine the performance characteristics of Road Markings under different conditions in the real environment where they are exposed to trafficking and the elements.

Manufacturers are able to develop and then test different materials, using the above trial system, allowing them to improve the performance characteristics of the Road Marking. This enables the manufacturer to provide clients, with a variety of materials giving different performance levels assisting them with product specifications depending on their requirements.

The Technical Committee is responsible for the Markings Monitoring Group, a group made up of industry members and local authorities that exchange information on the use of retro-reflectometers, creating standards and best practice methods for monitoring Road Markings.
